About Me

Hello, my name is Melissa Phipps.
I am a work-a-holic turned stay at home mom who went from a misdiagnosis of bi-polar to the real culprit hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s autoimmune disease to searching for my own wellness without medications and with the Word of God as my guide. This blog is my journey.

I originally called my blog The Hummingbird Feeder because hummingbirds are the epitome of the wellness I’m seeking. They run completely on sugar and for being so high energy they never get so exhausted they stay in bed all day; quite the opposite! Instead, twice a year they successfully travel a thousand plus miles. If God can keep them well and without insulin resistance and Hashimoto’s and adrenal fatigue then he can do it for me and you!

We are worth so much more then the birds of the fields!

Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

In my searching I realized that my photography blog ‘Exposing Silver’ also complemented my mission to wellness. Silver is amazing! It is a natural anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial that when used does not produce a resistant strain. The intruder is just gone!

God’s natural elements of the earth are perfect beyond comprehension and everything we need to achieve wellness! God is good and our victory is secure through Christ’s death on the cross! Isn’t that great news!?

So I decided to combine the two. I will still post images, my photography, as they compliment my blog. This ministry weighs on my heart and takes precedence over my photography. I see God’s beauty in the subject matter of my images so I do hope they bless you as well as the blogs!
Thank you!!

  1. Hi Melissa in more than a few occasions I have come across your path on FB thyroid group where I am a member under the direction of Raina and Kimberley wonderful thyroid warriors. I found your site not by coincidence either. I’m Christian myself and I would love to continue to read your blogs as you inspired me to believe in God’s plan for our lives through this ailment. I’m excited you’re a woman of faith through our savior Jesus we will overcome. God bless you.

  2. Hello Melissa this Inger, I meet you a couple of weeks ago at labcorp. I have been experiencing lower stomach and back pain for years. Instead of treating me for my chief complaint the doctor would treat for my symptoms (high blood pressure due to being in pain). The doctor would put me on different blood pressure medicine sending my nerves hay wire. My fingers and toes would feel like wires running through them. Now my colon is infected, from them giving me medicine that I didn’t need which cause me to have an infection in my colon. Some African Americans are allegoric to most high blood pressure meds. My cholesterol level is somewhat up and I’m one point over on my thyroid. Once I finish the antibiotics I have to get a colonoscopy. I will read the book you recommended me to read to find out natural remedies. I refuse to be a slave to the pharmaceutical wars.

    • I’m so glad you are looking for healthier alternatives! May I also recommend a high quality probiotic! All those antibiotics are killing your good gut bacteria. That’s where your immune system is so your system is shot. By adding back in a refrigerated probiotic your giving yourself back the good gut bacteria your body needs. It will likely help your colon too. *hugs* and healing to you! God bless!

  3. Hi Mel,

I met you in Rite Aid. You had spoken about the immune system and how reactors such as needless immunizations can cause needless inflammation. I am due for my tetnus shot and am timid about getting it due to my adrenal insufficiency. I just read an article that said the tetnus shot is good for 30 years not 10. I also read about how the shot can cause an autoimmune response and painful arthritis. Do you have any insight on this shot before I go and get it? Thanks so much! Nice to meet you!

    • Lori, I am so sorry this is so late. My blog was not forwarding any comments. I am so sorry, this answer is likely not much help concerning your question.
Vaccinations do trigger your immune system… like gasoline on a fire. Since you mentioned we met at rite aide, I know your local. I highly recommend Embracing Health on 610 in Stafford. Dr. Villareal is a naturopath and an MD doctor so she can be your primary care doctor through insurance while helping you in a fictional medicine way. If you can, try to get in with her to address your adrenal fatigue. I have a close relative that has been suffering years with adrenal fatigue and just discovered she has adrenal insufficiency cataracts and need immediate eye surgery. It’s a very real issue that needs to be addressed by a physician that believes it’s a real condition. Many MD’s just don’t. I pray you are doing well. Thank you for looking me up. I’m honored.
